DDS Night Ride, Hotel Hopping Edition

Just one of those nights, having fun, cycling in the city at night…

This heralded the return of the Davao Da-folding Society’s night rides after months of very unpredictable weather, sunny one moment, torrential rain the next.

In cooperation with Biketas we held a Casual Thursday Ride, wherein cyclists were requested to come in casual wear (pants, shoes, polo shirts, blouse…), instead of the usual cycling attire.

This is in an effort to convince people that you do not need to wear cycling apparel to ride bikes, or you could even go to work using your bicycles; as part of our advocacy of promoting the cycling culture in the city.

So we met up at Bikerboy, our very generous cycle-shop partner, at 1830. From there it was decided that our route would take us Hotel Hopping around the downtown area, and as usual, take pictures along the way.

At around 1900, with 14 cyclists, we departed from Bikerboy to start hotel hopping. Our hotel-hopping route looked like this: The Pinnacle – Regency Inn – Royal Mandaya – Apo View – Grand Men Seng – *Davao City Hall* – Royale House – Humberto’s – Hotel Uno – Marco Polo – Linmarr Apartelle – The Ritz at Garden Oasis – *dinner* – Seda – Park Inn by Raddison – Grand Regal – Microtel

It was great seeing cyclists cooperating with our theme, and kudos to some hotels allowing us to get close and have our pictures taken in their establishments.

See you all on our next ride!

About franciscolme

I've had fantasies of touring all the 7,107 islands (well, I guess not ALL of them) of the Philippines on a bike ever since I was introduced to riding folding bikes over a year ago; it sure has opened up a whole new world, or rather, a new perspective in seeing the places I used to frequent. Touring on a bicycle has shown me sights I rarely see when riding in any other means of transportation. It allows me to take time and absorb the sights and sounds each place has to offer.
